In this first June 2022 reboot of this blog we find answers to: Why have I invited you here... What's with this 3 Principles of Innate Health thing? Will it involve investment in a time share? Is there a secret handshake? Will it make me fatuous, extroverted, or self-contentedly doctrinaire?...
So, here goes the short version... The 3 Principles of Innate Health is foundationally a description of the operating system behind human experience, how it is self-corrective, and how it is linked to (and a manifestation of) the greatest potential of humans... whether one prefers spiritual and/or religious language (e.g. Spirit and Grace)... or psychological language (e.g. flow).
These Principles of Innate Health have been presenced to and been transformative for those living in poor and violent neighborhoods (since the mid '80s). Those who would use Innate Health to help others - find they get transformed themselves. Mental Health practitioners and Community Organizers discover a resilience deeper than "burnout"... and they work and share from this well-being.
While I'm not going to say everybody lives happily ever after, most folks find that even with ups and downs they keep being lifted up by a quiet wisdom and presence beneath all life and beneath all the circumstances we face.
Something like that.
At any rate, I've been exploring (and awkwardly overthinking) Innate Health for 18 years. I find it to be the deepest medicine... and our world is in need of it. And, what if, even as we face all that is going on at this time, all the helpers, contemplatives, artists, and organizers among us could be truly alive?
At this point you know I'm going to quote St Irenaeus of Lyons and Howard Thurman:
"Gloria Dei est vivens homo." - The glory of God is [humans] fully alive.
"Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and go and do it. Because what the world needs is more people who have come alive."
And what if the actual operating system of our human experience, against much of what we usually assume about it, profoundly supports us being fully alive... PB
